IBA Code of Conduct
 
1 OBJECTIVIES

1.1 The Islands Blackball Association (hereafter represented by the letters IBA) has a duty to ensure that its members behave in a manner expected by the IBA avoid unacceptable conflict of any type. It is therefore in the interest of all members that procedures are in place to assist them to do so.

1.2 This Code of Conduct has been formulated to provide effective guidance to all members, both individual and group.

 

2 GENERAL

All members of IBA shall be expected to comply with the rules and regulations laid down within the Constitution of the Association, any Licences or guarantees held by any governing or associated bodies, and any other associated rules, policies and conditions of IBA – all of which can be found on the IBA website, or via an IBA Committee member.

2.1 Members are not restricted from pursuing social, leisure, recreational or other interests in their own time, unless there is a reasonable likelihood of a conflict arising with IBA. Members shall not act in anyway as to cause detriment to the IBA or bring the Association, or its members, into disrepute.

2.2 In pursuing interests outside that which has IBA involvement, members should conduct themselves in a manner that will not reflect negatively on the IBA. Should there be any doubt about the propriety of an arrangement, members should seek advice from the IBA Committee as appropriate.

2.3 No member, Team Manager or Official of the IBA will present themselves, at any official IBA event, in a condition where he/she is deemed to be unfit for the purpose due to the influence of alcohol or drugs. Any person suspect of unfit due to the influence of alcohol or drugs may be removed from the immediate area, the team, or indeed the event, and may be subject to Disciplinary Procedures.

2.4 Any player in breach of this code of conduct, or who commits any offence deemed inappropriate from an IBA perspective, shall be subject to the IBA Disciplinary procedures, a copy of which is available on the official website.

 

3 MEMBERS / PLAYERS

3.1 All members/players shall conduct themselves in manner befitting of their standing as a member of IBA and shall not behave in a fashion that will bring the Association into disrepute.

3.2 No member/player shall operate in such a way as to be in conflict with the IBA, it’s policies, rules or aims and objectives. It is the members/players responsibility to ensure that they are fully aware of any such policies, rules or aims and objectives.

3.3 All members/players shall ensure that they are courteous and respectful whilst participating in competitions and events run by, or in association with, IBA or where they are representing the IBA at external events.

3.4 Members/players are expected to participate in IBA competitions and other associated events with sportsmanship, fairness and in keeping with the current rules of play.

 

4 TEAM MANAGERS

4.1 Managers will deliver the service expected of them in accordance with the express and implied wishes and intentions of the IBA Committee. Managers shall, under no circumstance, bring IBA into disrepute or work in conflict to, or to the detriment of, IBA.

4.2 A Manager shall operate within IBA rules, guidelines and policies and is responsible for ensuring that he/she is fully acquainted with these conditions.

4.3 A Manager shall ensure that his/her personal conduct is irreproachable and shall not engage in any activity deemed illegal or immoral.

4.4 Managers shall ensure that his/her Team Members are aware of the standard of behaviour expected of them and that appropriate sportsmanship and etiquette is demonstrated by all members of the Team at all events.

 

5 IBA COMMITTEE

5.1 IBA Committee Members will ensure that they act in a manner befitting the expectations of the Membership and work hard to deliver to a professional standard.

5.2 IBA Committee Members should ensure that where a direct or indirect personal interest exists, they declare their interest and withdraw from any subsequent discussion on the issue in question.

5.3 The IBA Committee shall promote fairness and equality throughout the Association and ensure rights of access to the Committee of any player with a legitimate concern.

5.5 The conduct of IBA Committee Members shall be irreproachable.

5.6 IBA Committee Members are not permitted to disclose information or the content of any document (including information about members) to any person other than in pursuance of their IBA duties, or if required by law, or expressly authorised to do so.

5.7 IBA Committee Members shall not be involved in decisions relating to discipline where they have a close personal relationship with the individual involved.

Any breach of this Code of Conduct will invoke disciplinary proceedings as detailed by the IBA Disciplinary Procedures document.
